UX Matters posted an interesting article last month about the value of UX certification. This is a popular topic among user experience designers, with some veterans expressing disdain and many newbies expressing skeptical interest.
It’s important to note that the post is not talking about advanced degrees, such as those offered by the University of Michigan (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction [HCI] or Master of Science in Information [MSI]), Carnegie Mellon University (i.e., MDes in Interaction Design) or Illinois Institute of Technology (i.e., Master of Design).
I commented on my experience with the Human Factors International (HFI) certification program in Usability Analysis. I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on the subject, or learn about available certification programs.
